ON THE (s,s) POLICY WITH FIXED INVENTORY HOLDING AND SHORTAGE COSTS
In this paper, we consider a dynamic stochastic inventory model with fixed inventory holding and shortage costs in addition to a fixed ordering cost. WE discuss a sufficient and necessary condition for an (s,S) policy to be optimal in the class of such stochastic inventory models. Furthermore, we explore how such a sufficient and necessary condition can be rewritten when the demand distribution...
متن کاملOnline lot-sizing problems with ordering, holding and shortage costs
We study inventorymanagement problemswhere demands are revealed incrementally and procurement decisionsmust bemade before the demands are realized. There are no probabilistic distributions nor nontrivial bounds to characterize demands. We consider two cost minimization problems: (1) perishable products with lost sales and (2) durable products with backlogged demand. In both problems, costs are ...
متن کاملInventory Cost Rate Functions with Nonlinear Shortage Costs
This article considers five cost-rate models for inventory control, each summarizing the expected holding and shortage costs per period as a function of the inventory position. All models have linear holding costs and shortage cost coefficients of dimension [$/unit/period], [$/unit] and [$/period]. The latter two coefficients may be the shadow costs of a fill-rate and a ready-rate service const...
متن کاملA production–recycling–inventory system with imprecise holding costs
This paper presents an optimal control recycling production inventory system in fuzzy environment. The used items are bought back and then either put on recycling or disposal. Recycled products can be used for the new products which are sold again. Here, the rate of production, recycling and disposal are assumed to be function of time and considered as control variables. The demand inversely de...
متن کاملCapacitated inventory problems with fixed order costs: Some optimal policy structure
Using a generalization of Scarf's K-convexity, we are able to show that the optimal policy for the periodic review inventory problem with xed ordering costs and nite capacity has an (s; S)-like structure. In particular, we are able to divide the parameter space into four regions. In two of these regions the optimal policy is completely speci ed. In the other two, it is partially speci ed.
